Professional Ethics for Financial Planners

CFP Board Standards of Professional Conduct Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility meetings the 2 hour requirement for CFP® recertification.

Learning Objective(s)
1. Define elements of the fiduciary standard.
2. Determine when the fiduciary standard applies in a variety of financial planning contexts and scenarios.
3. Determine if a CFP® professional is providing financial planning services or material elements of financial planning services.
4. Explain CFP Board's compensation disclosure requirements to clients and prospective clients.
5. Communicate any potential conflicts of interest to a client at the initiation of client engagement.

Tim Hummel, CFP®
Zahn Associates, Inc.

Tim has lived in Central Florida all of his life. He obtained a BS in Marketing from UCF. Tim also received his Financial Planning Certificate from the UCF Center for Financial Planning. He took the Zahn Live review which prepared him for the November 2005 CFP Board’s national comprehensive Exam. He currently holds his Series 7, 24, and 66 securities licenses as well as a 2-15 insurance license in the state of Florida. Tim is licensed for securities and insurance in various States across the country. He has owned and operated a financial planning firm located in Maitland Florida since 2004 with divisions concentrating in financial planning, Group benefits, individual insurance, and Property and Casualty Insurance.

Tim is currently an Active member of CFAHU, Central Florida Association of Health Underwriters, for which he served on the Board for the 2005 – 2006 Fiscal year. Tim is also currently and Active member of the Central Florida chapter of FPA. Tim has worked with Orange County Public Schools as a Partner in Education, for the since 2006. He is also actively involved with UCF as a partner in education with the College of Education. Tim has been an Advisor to the Voight Family Foundation, which was set up to Issue Scholarships to those Students seeking degrees in Culinary Arts as well as Hospitality Management at UCF or the Orlando Culinary Academy.
