FPA of Northeast Florida will again be hosting a leading independent forum on major economic, geo political and financial market matters. Are we headed for a market bubble that will burst in 2017? A more vigorous recovery or will it be slow and steady? What about our state and local outlooks? Key issues will be discussed and debated and our panelists will give their opinions and predictions for 2017.

Roman Cech, PhD
Florida State College at Jacksonville

Dr. Roman Cech is Professor of Economics at Florida State College in Jacksonville. He received his economics education in Europe and in the United States.

After graduating from Economics University in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1987, Dr. Cech was an assistant professor of economics there for four years. After the fall of communism in Czechoslovakia, he received a Fulbright fellowship and spent one year as a visiting professor at the University of Virginia in 1991. He stayed at UVA as a graduate student and instructor of economics and earned his M.A. in 1995 and Ph.D. in 2001.

Between 2001 and 2003 Dr. Cech worked in Germany. As a member of the German Advisory Group, he advised the government of Ukraine on macroeconomic reforms of tax system, social security and budget. In 2003 Dr. Cech returned to the United States and held academic positions at Longwood University in Virginia and most recently at Florida State College in Jacksonville.




Laura DiBella
Executive Director
Nassau County Economic Development Council

Laura DiBella is the executive director of the Nassau County Economic Development Council (NCEDB), a nonprofit corporation committed to ncouraging economic growth and vitality in Nassau County by bringing new business and jobs to the County, while working closely with existing businesses to expand their operations.

DiBella joined the NCEDB in 2014 with a highly diversified 13-year career portfolio encompassing marketing, real estate and manufacturing. Her career began with Enviro Voraxial Technology, Inc. (EVTN), an engineering and manufacturing firm in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she was responsible for the organization’s marketing efforts. While at EVTN, Ms. DiBella pursued a passion for more knowledge and obtained her real estate license. Furthering her marketing career, she became the co-founder and eventual Chief Operating Officer for Image Marketing and Special Events, Inc., a marketing and staffing firm based in Ocean Ridge, FL. During her tenure, she pitched to and won the business of GMC, Hummer, Proctor and Gamble, Bellsouth, Diageo, Allied Domecq Spirits, Miller Brewing Company, Heineken USA and more, all while managing a contract national staff upwards of 500 employees.

In 2006, Ms. DiBella pursued a full-time real estate career. She quickly rose through the brokerage ranks and amassed a selling inventory in excess of $75 million in the North Florida Market. Working on behalf of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and other clients, she negotiated and closed numerous large scale transactions throughout the region and beyond.

Ms. DiBella holds a BS in Human Resource Development and Management from the University of Florida. She is currently or has been involved in many community organizations including, but not limited to, the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce, JAX Chamber, The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, Pace Center for Girls, Hands on Jacksonville and the National Parkinson’s Foundation.

As president of JAXUSA Partnership and executive vice president of JAX Chamber, Jerry oversees the strategy for economic development in Northeast Florida. He directs a staff of 13 in the areas of business development, marketing, business expansion, workforce development and business intelligence. Considered one of the top 50 economic developers in the country, Jerry focuses on the expansion and relocation of headquarters to the Jacksonville region and supports the team on larger projects.
