Committees

Engage with FPA of Northeast Florida

Committees and committee volunteers are very important to the long-term health and viability of our organization and a great place to develop skills and connections that will further your career. Below is a list of current FPA of Northeast Florida Committees:

Programs
We are responsible for the educational content of our quarterly programs and roundtables. We research topics and speakers for all the chapter meetings. You’ll have opportunities to network with industry leaders, national experts and other members while shaping the education of our chapter. Where else will you have the opportunity to be familiar with the cutting edge issues of our industry and meet many of its leaders? Contact: Scott Snider at ssnider@mellenmoney.com

Symposium
Our largest program of the year fills an entire day with fresh speakers and topics. Symposium volunteers provide help both large and small – from developing the agenda to coordinating speaker logistics to helping facilitate on the event day. If you want to gain experience putting on events or simply love Symposium and want to be part of its success, sign up and volunteer with us! Contact: Bill O'Leary at bill@legacyplanninglawgroup.com

Membership
We are responsible for maintaining the health and fostering the growth of our chapter’s membership. The four areas on which we focus our attention are: Recruitment, Retention, Communication and Engagement. A strong membership contributes more energy, more value and more fun during our meetings. A strong membership allows us to advocate for our profession with a louder voice. A strong membership enables us to achieve more as a profession. Participating on the membership committee enables you to engage with the members of our chapter. Contact: Michelle Ash at michelle.ash@wealthguards.com

Public Relations/Public Awareness
We promote the value of our association, and the importance of working with an FPA professional, to the Jacksonville community. Committee members have the opportunity to encourage public awareness through the media and our activities with businesses and organizations. We are also responsible for communicating chapter events to our members and maintaining the content of our website. Our committee will help you hone your own public relations skills and offer opportunities for responding to media requests, public speaking and authoring opportunities. Pro Bono
Bring your expertise to help the Jacksonville community achieve financial goals and aspirations. Provide financial education and community service to non-profit corporate and community organizations. Develop relationships which increase the profile and reputation of FPA of Northeast Florida. Increase local awareness of the value of financial planning. Contact: Christine Brown at FPA@NortheastFloridaFPA.org

Chapter Partnership/Sponsorships
Help us partner with companies to raise money for our chapter and promote the resources available to our members. Our dues cover only half of our operating budget. Our goal is to educate members to see the value of and need for partners and make it valuable to be a sponsor. People interested in knowing the corporate footprint in Jacksonville for networking purposes as well as having the opportunity to build relationships with various wholesaler resources available to your business would find this a valuable committee. Contact: Bill O'Leary at bill@legacyplanninglawgroup.com

Government Relations
This committee connects with state and city government to promote our profession and be a liaison between our organization and the government. You will be the first to know of pending legislation, help us have a voice in consumer protection on financial issues and make amazing connections across our government.
